This year we have seen a lot of interesting, inspiring, and even demoralizing things borne from the world of education. Taking a look back, the following 10 stories bared significant weight on the trajectory of U.S. schools.”

As 2011 comes to a close, we reflect again on how innovation (and perhaps failure) have shaken up the education system. Where the pieces settle will be largely up to the oncoming year, but we think the following 10 trends have the potential to hugely change the education landscape.

Compiling this list was almost too difficult, for the amazing education thought leaders out there are so numerous and different.
