This week on LearnBoost
It’s finally a nice day in SF and there is no better way to start off the morning than to share some of our progress or learning’s of the past week.
Demo – So when we started wire-framing LearnBoost, we knew that regardless of the criticism or feedback that we received, we would stay focused and try and deliver our initial concept. Even though, it took a week or so longer than we expected, it was really important our small team get to this point. Our demo does a few things for us…
1) It gives us confidence that as a team we can execute a plan (idea to product).
2) We can now gather feedback on something visual that teachers can play with. The issue we had before is that the feedback we received was based on an idea and therefore way too open for interpretation.
3) Who are these guys? It is important for us to get out there. We have recently decided to commit to LearnBoost full time and it’s important that we now starting sharing the concept and demo with everyone we know!

GitHub – We have recently mirrored our code base using Github. If you don’t know what Github is, check it out here .From my perspective it really brings more transparency to the development process as I can see the commits and major work being done. We have also started using the Issues log as a mini product release calendar. We log items that need to be worked on and prioritize them. Follow us at http://github.com/LearnBoost
Communication – I cannot stress how important this is for a small startup. At times we all fall victim to bad communication and this only seems to be magnified in small groups. Working side by side really helps but sadly is not possible in the short term for LearnBoost as we are all living in different places. So what do we do?
1) Email – Probably our weakest point but since we are all together right now it doesn’t matter as much. In the upcoming months, it will be crucial that we over communicate.
2) Skype for video chats
3) IRC for internal daily dialogue
4) GitHub for project planning
5) Hands on project management with email and skype
